“Children let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth. ” John 3:18
This is truly our daily challenge, To love one another outside of self requires a hugh step towards, less of me and more of you.
Self-centeredness is our problem. Me, myself and I, now what do you think about me. How funny is that, but so true unfortunately. We must die to self, simply throughout the day.
I heard it put in an interesting way:
Start your day out with this. When you see an elderly person, ask them if you can be of service to them. You will be amazed at how many elderly people you see that day. They are everywhere!
Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is : ‘Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength,’ This is the first commandment. ‘And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
To maintain that temple requires wearing of his armor daily!
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God,
so that you can take your stand against the devil’s scheme.” Ephesians 6:10 NKJV
“In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinquish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:16 NKJV
When dwelling upon the thoughts of that temple, my foolish past floods my soul.
Oh; but Christ has washed me clean, by the blessings of the cross.
The gift received from daily prayer and meditation is indispensable for a joyful walk with the Lord.
It is the present of each day.
Unreceived usually means an unsuccessful meaningful day, railroaded by broken tracks.
One can so easily end up in the woods lost and afraid.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
The futility of the mind and the blindness of the heart leaves us a lost soul!
Wandering around aimlessly, I’m left in a state of emptiness.
This I say , therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart. Ephesians 4:17-18
Oh father, that I may learn the lesson for each day as you press this upon my heart. I must learn the lesson to receive the blessing. Help me to think to ask for your help in advance of the task in front of me. This is my minute by minute goal, to stay forever in your presence.
It is in seeking you that we find you!…the secret is; you have always been there, and we just didn’t know it.
Deuteronomy 4:29 New King James Version (NKJV)
29 But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
